Vortighern: studio del personaggio/character design

Eccoci qui!
Cominciamo a presentarvi il protagonista della saga di Ivory & Blood: Vortighern.

Here we are! 
We begin to introduce you the hero of  the Ivory & Blood saga: Vortighern.

La parte più complessa per me sono state le spade!
Fatte di ossa di drago, abbastanza corte per essere utilizzate in coppia e nelle svariate peripezie del protagonista (per esempio, fronteggiare nerboruti guerrieri delle terre selvagge o immense creature striscianti coperte di melma nauseabonda!). Inoltre hanno anche una parte di lama seghettata e devono ispirarsi a una cultura "nordica". Per questo motivo mi sono ispirato, per il dettaglio delle impugnature, alle spade germaniche e scandinave (con l'aggiunta di due denti di drago sul pomo).
  
The hardest part to draw were the swords!
Made of dragon bones, short enough to be used in pairs and in the various adventures of the hero (es, fighting against the hardest warriors of the Wild Lands or with immense crawling creatures covered by slime!). They also have a "chainsaw" blade part  and should take inspiration by the "Nordic"culture. For this reason, I take inspiration, for details of the handles, by Germanic and Scandinavian swords (with the addition of two dragon's teeth on the pommel).

Questo, invece, è uno studio del volto e delle espressioni del protagonista. Io e Alfonso abbiamo deciso di dargli un'aria "dark", poiché si tratta di un personaggio tormentato da una maledizione. Quindi, se in un primo momento l'avevo vestito con una tunica bianca, abbiamo poi optato per il nero.

This is a study of the face and of the expressions of the protagonist. Alfonso and I have decided to give it a "dark" look because it is a character haunted by a curse. So, at first I had dressed in a white tunic, but then we both decided for black.

Un bel primo piano.

Occhi rossi e fuoco sullo sfondo: la maledizione di Vortighern ci riserverà parecchie sorprese.

Red eyes and fire in the background: The Curse of Vortighern will give us a lot of surprises.

                                   

Cominciamo a studiare i vestiti e l'armatura di Vortighern. Anche in questo caso ho cercato di aggiungere degli elementi "draconici" come scaglie, denti e artigli.

 Lets begin to study the clothing and armor of Vortighern. In this case I tried to add "dragon" elements  as scales, teeth and claws.

In un primo momento ho voluto fargli indossare placche d'osso e un'armatura di maglia. Sotto consiglio di Alfonso, ho poi alleggerito l'armamentario di Vortighern sino alla versione finalmente completa, qua sotto.

At first I wanted to make him wear bone plates and a chainmail. Under the suggestions of Alfonso, I  lightened the armor of Vortighern, as you can see below.
